Head Gasket Mod - continued

Step 5:

Set the flywheel to the "T" mark at the 12 o'clock position and the "O" mark on the cam gear to 9 o'clock.
It is important that you keep them there and do not let the cam gear fall out or skip any teeth.

Step 6:

Remove the cam gear via two 8mm bolts.

Step 7:

Remove the head gently and do not let the cam gear fall. Rest it(still in the timing chain) hanging on the cylinder.

Step 8:

Gently remove the head gasket. Locate two copper rivets on it and drill them out with a bit slightly larger than the holes in the middle of them. You should only need a bit that barely cuts the rivets because they will easily fall out when they are removed. The thickness of the stock HG is .0395" and the middle layer is .020". Removal of the middle will give you a compression ratio of 10.99:1 as opposed to stock 10:1. ONLY remove the middle layer. The outer black layers are the compression layers and need to be there.
